Got Your $ix
Making mental health care affordable
for the first responders of the High Country
What is Got Your $ix?
Got Your Six is a program of the Responder Wellness Coalition that confidentially covers the cost of two mental health therapy sessions per month for any first responder of the High Country.
Who qualifies?
All first responders who are actively responding in Ashe, Avery or Watauga County qualify. The Responder Wellness Coalition defines first responders as members of law enforcement, fire, medic, or dispatch.
How it works?
Any first responder working in Ashe, Avery or Watauga County receiving evidence-based therapy from a licensed mental health clinician can have the Responder Wellness Coalition pay their out-of-pocket expenses for two sessions per month. There is no application process for the first responder so that their identity will always remain anonymous. Payment is made directly to provider.
How to utilize the program
1. The first responder schedules their services with a mental health care provider and informs the provider that they would like to utilize the Responder Wellness Coalition Got Your Six program. Provider must be a licensed mental health clinician providing evidence-based therapy in accordance with APA guidelines. Provider must be approved by the Responder Wellness Coalition to receive payment.
2. The provider bills the Responder Wellness Coalition directly. The Responder Wellness Coalition will pay provider for the cost of session not covered by the first responder's insurance (the out-of-pocket expense for which the patient is responsible after insurance) for up to two sessions per calendar month.
PROVIDERS: Please contact the Responder Wellness Coalition at 828.773.7877 or info@responderwellnesscoalition.org to qualify as a provider with the Got Your Six program.
FAQs and Fine Print
Will anyone know that I am using the Got Your Six program and/or receiving therapy? No! The Responder Wellness Coalition will never ask for any personal or identifying patient information! The provider will verify with the patient that they are an active first responder (law enforcement, fire, medic or dispatch) currently working in Ashe, Avery, or Watauga County and that is it! Other than your provider/clinician, no one else will know. An arbitrary patient ID number will be used for billing purposes between provider and RWC.

Is there a limit to how many total sessions or how long I can use Got Your Six?
